We recognize that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family will make. It is often hard to express the feelings that come from watching children learn, lead, and live out their daily activities in a faithful, academically challenging, yet nurturing environment. Many parents have said that you can’t truly understand how wonderful the St. Louise community is until you are a part of it. The following aspects are key to a St. Louise education:
Faith – St. Louise is first and foremost a Catholic school providing students opportunities to encounter Jesus Christ in their lives. Students are involved in activities which enable them to enrich relationships with families, friends, and their communities. The teachings of Jesus Christ are incorporated into all classroom experiences, offering the ability to worship, pray and share in a loving, understanding environment.
Academic excellence- A rigorous academic curriculum is provided to challenge St. Louise students. We are proud to provide an outstanding learning environment where children can grow in faith and reach their full academic potential. Students graduate from St. Louise prepared to excel in future academic endeavors and in life for years to come. St. Louise Terra Nova test scores continually outperform national and local averages.
Community – The continuity of teachers, administrators, students and environment from Kindergarten to 8th Grade plays an important role in the “whole person” development of students. Studies show that children thrive in learning environments with this continuity. The mentoring programs linking older students with younger students build confidence among all. Young children who look up to the older students then have the opportunity to serve as a leader to the younger students as they grow up.
Service - Each year, our school serves many families and individuals in need who live within mere miles of us. And we are found by them. Sometimes it starts with a simple phone call, an offhand mention in the lobby, or a note that finds its way to our door. These are our calls to service. St. Louise students learn the importance of helping those in need through the monthly school wide service projects. Eighth graders have the opportunity to working in Jubilee Soup Kitchen in Pittsburgh throughout the year, providing them with first-hand experience that teaches the importance of helping others.
Athletics and Extracurricular Activities - St. Louise is proud to provide safe, Christ-centered, athletic programs and extracurricular activities that help students enhance their talents, explore different creative venues, and strengthen friendships that will last a lifetime.
