On Wednesday, March 14, 2012, a record 64 students from 21 schools in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade from the South Hills participated in the 6th Annual St. Louise Invitational Chess Tournament.
Trophies and ribbons were awarded to the top finishers in each section. The STL winners by section were:
K-2nd Grade Under 300 Rating: 1st- Maxwell Kness, 3rd – Scott Zhu, Zach Crookshank, and Ava Baumcratz
3rd Grade Under 300 Rating: 1st-Andrey Crookshank
4th Grade Under 300 Rating: 3rd-Olivia McConaghy
5th-8th Grade Under 300 Rating: 3rd-Shane Quinlan, 4th-Sean Werner
K -4th Over 300 Rating: 2nd – Connor Spratt, 3rd – Max Lorenz
