The Kiva Club is a service program through which our students are able to help
budding entrepreneurs in developing countries. Kiva is an Internet-based
microfinance organization that matches donors from around the world with people
who are trying to rise above poverty by starting businesses in their own communities.

Geography Bee

Grades 4-8 compete in the annual Geography Bee. Winner then moves on to the Diocesan Championships.

Student Technology Team

The Student Technology Team at St. Louise de Marillac School consists of students in grades 5 – 8 who have been recommended by a teacher and have demonstrated knowledge in a particular area of technology beyond what is learned in computer class. They meet weekly after school for additional training using new media and equipment. These students work on projects throughout the school year and provide basic trouble shooting for technical issues in the classroom to assist teachers and other students. Additional responsibilities include: delivery and set up of audio visual equipment when needed, taking digital photos and video clips at school events, and editing materials for print and the web.

Bell Choir

Bell Choir is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who read music very well. The Bell Choir will ring for an Advent school mass and at a Christmas mass. We rehearse during the week before school (around 7:50 a.m.).

Choir

Music is an enriching piece of a St. Louise education. In addition to the weekly classroom music instruction, other opportunities exist to enhance the music experience for students.

The School Children’s Choir sings for school liturgies on Fridays and Holy Days. Practice is every Wednesday after school until 3:30 with Mrs. Mahramas. All students in grades 3-6 are welcome to participate. Cantor choir is available for grades 6-8. Please contact Jaime Mahramas at jmahramas@stlouisedemarillac.org for more information

All students are also highly encouraged to participate in the parish children’s choir that sings for Sunday liturgies approximately once a month! The rehearsal time for the parish children’s choir is Wednesday evenings from 6:10 p.m. – 6:50 p.m. They choir is offered to children in 2^nd grade and above, but 1st graders can join if the parents feel that they can read well enough and have a particular interest in music. Band

Music is an enriching piece of a St. Louise education. In addition to the weekly classroom music instruction, other opportunities exist to enhance the music experience for students.

Band instruction is available for a fee for interested students in grades 4-8. The Diocesan Program dictates the monthly fee. The instruments are rented with the option to buy. Small group lessons are provided one period a week and practice is held once a week.

The periods are rotated so the same classes are not missed too often. However, it remains the responsibility of the student to make up missed work. A meeting is held at the beginning of each school year to provide more information for interested parents.

Altar Servers

Altar serving opportunities are available for students in grades 3-8. Students can serve daily masses, weekend masses, funerals, and weddings.

On this schedule, there are spots marked TBD and anyone is welcome to serve any of those days if you are able. Please remember to wear some type of dress shoe and if I scheduled you for a day that you are unable to serve, just let me know.
