The School Advisory Council (SAC) is an organization consisting of school parents that works with the parish and school administration as a consultative body, offering advice, assistance, and support. It is the tactical arm that executes the strategic plan put in place by STL2020.
One of the largest objectives of the SAC is fundraising. The Pittsburgh Diocese mandates that 10% of a school’s operating budget must be raised through fundraising. For St. Louise, this equates to approximately $200,000 a year. To meet this fundraising goal, each family is responsible for raising/contributing $500 during the school year. There are many opportunities to reach your Family Share fundraising requirement, often without any out of pocket expenses. If we exceed the school’s Diocesan mandate for fundraising, we may utilize the excess amount for special projects and renovations to the school. Please contact the SAC chairperson with any questions about Family Share.
The sources of revenue for SAC fundraising for 2011-12 include:
- Race for Education
- Raffles
- Global Gala
- March Madness
- Feed the Mind
Please refer to the 2011-12 Family Share schedule for more details.
In addition to fundraising, we implement various parts of the school’s strategic plan through the following committees: technology, facilities, PR/marketing, scholarship, grant writing, and alumni. Please contact any of the SAC members listed below to participate in any of the committees.
