Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) is a state wide extracurricular activity for students in the seventh and eighth grade. Students participating design and carry out an experiment they design using the scientific method. Upon completion of their experiment, the students prepare a ten minute oral presentation that is given before a panel of three judges at the Regional Meet in February. All students awarded a first place award at the Regional Meet travel to Penn State University and compete against each other.
