St. Louise de Marillac Catholic School

Social development is emphasized by providing extracurricular activities that help students enhance their talents, explore different creative venues, and strengthen friendships that will last a lifetime. There is a special place for every child at St. Louise!
Altar serving opportunities are available for students in grades 3-8. Students can serve daily masses, weekend masses, funerals, and weddings.
The Chess Club encourages any student who would like to learn to play chess to join. Empirical studies have demonstrated that chess is linked to higher achievement in many school subjects.
The St. Louise de Marillac Drama Club is available to students in 7th and 8th grades and offers experience in many aspects of theater arts including acting, singing, choreography, set construction & design, make-up, costuming, and technical aspects such as sound, lighting, and special effects.
The St. Louise de Marillac School Forensics Team is available to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Forensics is a public speaking activity in which the students compete interscholastically with Catholic, private and public schools in the Southwestern Pennsylvania State Forensics League.
Grades 4-8 compete in the annual Geography Bee. Winner then moves on to the Diocesan Championships.
St. Louise de Marillac School’s Latin Club is for students in grades 5-8 who have an interest in the history, language, art, culture, and mythology of the ancient Romans.
The St. Louise de Marillac MATHCOUNTS Club is open to any 7th or 8th grade student. Using a variety of tools, students explore the wide-world of math. Expect hands-on activities, fun math videos, challenging word problems and so much more!
. Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) is a state wide extracurricular activity for students in the seventh and eighth grade.
The Spelling Bee is available for students in grades 4-8. Each year we participate in two events: the Diocesan Meet and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Competition.
The Student Council of St. Louise de Marillac School is an organization of elected homeroom representatives in grades 5-8 and four officers. We strive to create a stronger community within our school and to create a strong relationship among our students.
The Student Technology Team at St. Louise de Marillac School is open to students in grades 5 – 8 with a particular interest in technology.
