St. Louise de Marillac offers experiences in many aspects of theater arts including acting, singing, choreography, make-up, costuming, and technical aspects such as set construction & design, sound, lighting, and special effects.
Fall Play
The Fall Play is open to students in grades 6-8. Rehearsals start in late September and the performances for the school and the general public takes place in November. Students learn basic terminology, acting techniques, and theater traditions while preparing a 50-60 minute drama or comedy. (There is no singing involved in this performance.)
Spring Musical
Students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to try out for the annual Spring Musical. Rehearsals start in February and run through the performances for the school and general public in April or May. This production builds on what was learned in the Fall Play, adding singing, choreography, and more complicated tech (lights, sound, stage crew, etc.). In many cases, a musical will provide opportunities for additional “chorus” parts. When needed, these parts may be offered to students in grades 4 and 5.
